Description: An annual poppy with an upright habit. The leaves are grey-green and pinnatisect in shape. Orange poppy flowers have four broad petals, each with a deep reddish-purple blotch at the base. Each Bloom has a crown of black stamens carrying blue pollen at the centre. Flowers are produced from late spring into midsummer and are followed by prickly seed Capsules.

The strain of Papaver hybridum grown at Malverleys is orange, however, there is also a red form in cultivation.
