Carpinus orientalis 'Bas'

Description: A large Deciduous Shrub or small tree with a bushy, branching habit. Glossy dark green leaves are oval to Elliptic in shape and have finely toothed margins. The leaves are much smaller than those of Carpinus betulus. Pendulous green catkins are produced in mid-spring and are followed by fruit enveloped by papery Bracts. The foliage turns yellow in autumn before falling.
