Description: A small Deciduous tree with a graceful upright, arching habit. Small, ovate leaves with toothed margins emerge red in spring before turning glossy bright green. Yellow to yellow-green catkins are produced from mid to late spring and are followed by pendulous, hop-like fruit bearing Racemes with papery Bracts. The leaves turn shades of yellow, orange and red in autumn before falling.

Sometimes referred to C. turczaninovii in literature.

Yellow male catkins and yellow-green female catkins are produced in April and May and are followed by pendulous fruit-bearing, hop-like racemes. The fruit is enveloped by greenish-beige papery bracts.
