Description: A Deciduous, woody climber that will cling to support with aerial roots. Dark green, broadly ovate to rounded leaves have coarsely toothed margins. Creamy white, lacecap-like flowers are composed of a central group of small, fertile florets surrounded by a ring of larger, showy Bract-like florets. The flowers are produced in midsummer. The Japanese Hydrangea Vine looks similar to the Climbing Hydrangea.

Flattened cymes have a lacecap like appearance. The flowerheads are composed of a central group of small, round, greenish-white florets surrounded by a ring of larger, creamy white, bract-like, sterile florets. The flowers are produced in July.

Dark green, broadly ovate to rounded leaves have Dentate margins. The leaves are held in opposite pairs up the clinging stems.

Cultivation:

Best in full sun to partial shade in fertile, moisture retentive soil that is well drained. Schizophragma hydrangeoides will grow in shade, but will flower best with more sunlight.
