Description: A clump-forming, herbaceous Perennial that is low-growing. Mid to dark green, fern-like leaves are bipinnate with linear to oblong leaflets. Double, bright yellow, daisy-like flowers have a group of ruffled, green petals at the centre. The Blooms are produced from early to mid-spring. The leaves fully emerge after flowing has finished.

According to Allan Armitage, Adonis was 'supposedly a favourite flower of the god Adonis, who, upon his death, was changed into this flower by the goddess Aphrodite'. (Quoted from Herbaceous Perennial Plants - A. Armitage)

Flower:

Double, bright yellow, daisy-like flowers are bowl-shaped and have a central group of green, ruffled petals. The flowers are produced in March and April, usually before the leaves fully emerge.

Propagation:

Division after flowering of well-established clumps. Generally dislikes disturbance.

Cultivation:

Best in partial shade to shade in fertile, moisture retentive soil that is well drained. Prefers a soil with a neutral to acidic pH.
