Description: A medium-sized, Deciduous Shrub with an upright, bushy habit. Attractive bright yellow-green leaves are rounded to oval in shape. Small, tan, star-shaped flowers are held in loose panicles and produced in midsummer. Fluffy hairs are produced beneath the flowers and develop to give a smoke-like appearance to the inflorescence from mid to late summer. The leaves retain their brilliant colouring until autumn when they turn red and orange before falling.

The correct botanical name is Cotinus 'Ancot', 'Golden Spirit' is a trademark or preferred selling name.

Flower:

Small, tan, star-shaped flowers are held in loose panicles and produced in June and July. Fluffy hairs are produced beneath the flowers and develop to give an attractive, smoke-like appearance to the inflorescence from July into August. Shy to flower.
