Description: A medium-sized Deciduous Shrub with an upright, bushy habit. Glossy dark green leaves are ovate to Elliptic in shape with coarsely toothed margins. Lacecap flowers are composed of a central cluster of small, pale blue florets surrounded by a ring of larger, showy violet-blue sterile florets. The flowers are produced on upright stems from mid to late summer. The flowers will be blue if planted on acidic soil, or mauve-pink (as they are at Malverleys) on neutral or limey soil.

Lacecap-like corymbs are composed of a central group of small pale blue, fertile florets surrounded by a ring of large showy, sterile florets that are deep violet-blue or mauve-pink (as at Malverleys) on neutral or limey soil. The flowers are produced on upright stems in July and August.
