Description: A herbaceous Perennial with a clump-forming and upright habit. Mid to dark green leaves are lanceolate to linear in shape. Daisy-like flowerheads have bright orange-yellow petals (ray florets) that are flushed with red at the base and notched at the tips. At the centre of each Bloom is a prominent orange-brown cone. The flowerheads are held singly atop upright stems and are produced from midsummer into mid-autumn. The Blooms are sweetly scented and very attractive to pollinating insects. Excellent for use as cut flowers.

The genus name Echinacea is based on the Greek word 'Echinos' for hedgehog, a reference to the prickly centre of the flower.

Flower:

Scented, daisy-like flowerheads have orange-yellow ray florets (petals) that are flushed with red at the base and notched at the tips. At the centre of each bloom is an orange-brown cone composed of disc florets and stiff, pointed bracts. Each bloom can reach more than 13cm across. The flowerheads are held singly on sturdy, upright stems and are produced from July into October.
