Description: A herbaceous Perennial with a clump-forming habit. Oblong to lanceolate leaflets with toothed margins emerge tinted reddish-purple in spring before turning to pale to mid-green with age. The foliage and flower buds are covered in fine, copper-coloured bristles. Large, nodding bowl-shaped flowers are a beautiful, rich shade of azure blue. Each Bloom has a showy central cluster of delicate stamens with golden Anthers. The Blooms are held singly or in small clusters atop upright stems and are produced in summer. The flowers are followed by bristly seed Capsules that contain no viable seed.

The flowers look very much like those of Meconopsis 'Slieve Donard', but can be differentiated by the reddish-purple colouring on the new foliage, as well as the toothed leaf margins. The seed Capsules are also not quite as long or bristly.
