Description: A medium to large-sized Evergreen tree with a bushy habit and rounded outline. Leathery mid to dark green leaves are narrow and oblong to obovate in shape. Brown, downy bud sheaths fall away to reveal slender, pointed buds that open to pale, creamy yellow flowers. The flowers are star-shaped and fragrant. At the centre of each Bloom is a cluster of yellow stamens that age to orange-red. The flowers are held singly on the upright branches and produced in mid-spring.

Rare in cultivation.

Flower:

Brown, downy bud sheaths drop to reveal slender, pointed buds that open to pale yellow flowers. The blooms are star-shaped and fragrant. At the centre of each flower is a cluster of yellow stamens that age to orange-red. The blooms are held singly on upright stems and are produced in April at Malverleys, but possibly earlier in more mild parts of the country.
