Flower:
Brown, downy bud sheaths drop to reveal slender, pointed buds that open to pale yellow flowers. The blooms are star-shaped and fragrant. At the centre of each flower is a cluster of yellow stamens that age to orange-red. The blooms are held singly on upright stems and are produced in April at Malverleys, but possibly earlier in more mild parts of the country.
