Description: A medium-sized Deciduous Shrub with a bushy, upright habit and spreading branches. Rounded to oval leaves are bronze-tinted when they emerge and turn blue-green to dark green (with bright green petioles) as they develop. Small, pink and green star-shaped flowers are held in panicles and produced in midsummer. Fluffy hairs are held beneath the flowers and develop to give the inflorescence an airy, smoke-like appearance from midsummer onwards (hence the common name of 'Smoke Bush'). The inflorescences are a shade of dusky pink and fade to buff with age. The foliage turns brilliant shades of red and orange in autumn before falling.
