Description: A clump-forming herbaceous Perennial with an upright habit. Mid to dark green leaves are ovate to lanceolate in shape with pointed tips. The foliage is occasionally flushed with deep red. Bright magenta-lilac flower buds are conical in shape and have dark calyces. This phlox is highly unusual in that the flower buds never fully open and retain their conical shape until they wither. The flowers are held in dense panicles atop vertical stems and are produced in midsummer. Good for use as cut flowers.

Butonik translates to 'bud' in Russian.
