Description: A medium-sized Deciduous Shrub with upright, spreading branches and aromatic bark. Wrinkled dark green leaves are broadly ovate to Elliptic in shape with pointed tips. Striking, bowl-shaped flowers with relatively slender petals are a rich shade of burgundy. At the centre of each Bloom is a cluster of shorter, pale yellow to creamy white petals. The Blooms are held singly on spreading, upright branches and produced from late spring into early summer. The leaves turn yellow in autumn before falling.

Bowl-shaped flowers with many slender petals are a rich shade of burgundy. At the centre of each bloom is a cluster of shorter petals that are pale yellow to creamy white. The blooms are held singly on the branches and are produced in May and June. The flowers have a slight fragrance.
