Description: A small Deciduous Shrub with an upright habit. Leathery dark green leaves are ovate to Elliptic in shape with pointed tips and coarsely toothed margins. Rounded, mophead hydrangea flowers are composed of many sterile florets that will be pale mauve-pink on alkaline soils and blue on acidic soils. (The flowers are pink at Malverleys.) The florets are held in Corymbs atop striking, distinctive black stems and produced from mid-summer into mid-autumn.

Rounded mophead (hortensia) hydrangea flowers are composed of many sterile florets that will be mauve-pink on alkaline soils and blue on acidic soils. The florets are held in corymbs on the black stems and are produced from July into October. Flowers are produced on the previous year's growth.
