Description: A rhizomatous Perennial with a clump-forming habit. Upright, sword-shaped leaves are grey-green and held in fans at the base of the stems. Large, sweetly-scented Bearded iris flowers are a rich, velvety shade of deep purple - appearing very nearly black. The Blooms are held singly or in small clusters atop upright stems and are produced from late spring into early summer. Attractive to pollinating insects.
