Description: A medium-sized, Deciduous Shrub (occasionally grown as a small tree) with a vase-shaped outline. The young, slender branches have a zig-zagging habit of growth. Small, mid to dark green leaves are ovate to obovate in shape and have sharply toothed margins. The leaves emerge after the flowers have been produced. Small, bowl-shaped flowers are pale blush pink in bud and creamy white when open. Each Bloom has a red Eye and a deep pinkish-red Calyx. The flowers are held singly or in pairs along the bare branches and are produced abundantly from early to mid-spring. Attractive to pollinating insects. The leaves turn attractive shades of orange-red to deep purple in autumn before falling.
