Description: A medium to large, Evergreen, coniferous tree with spreading branches. The tree has a broad, conical outline when young and gradually becomes more rounded with age. Long, grey-green needles can reach more than 20cm in length. The needles are pendent and held in dense clusters along the branches, and they appear to give the tree a soft texture. The pollen cones (male) resemble catkins and have a yellowish hue. The seed cones (female) are much larger and are a shade of grey-brown.

Long, grey-green to pale green needles are long and pendent. The needles can reach up to 25cm in length and are usually held in bundles of five. The needles and bundles are densely held along the spreading branches.
