Description: An aquatic Perennial with foliage held in neat rosettes. Mid to dark green leaves are lanceolate to strap-shaped with very finely toothed and spiny margins. The rosettes sink below the surface of the water during the winter when the water is cold and will rise above the surface during flowering. The plants are Dioecious (male and female flowers are produced on separate plants). The flowers are white and cup-shaped with golden yellow centres. The male flowers are held in small clusters and the female flowers are held singly. The Blooms are produced through the summer. After flowering the leaf rosettes will sink below the surface again to produce new growth and will rise again to allow the new growth to develop. The plant may need controlling as it can spread rapidly.
