Description: A medium-sized, Evergreen coniferous tree with an upright, spreading habit. Long, grey-green needles can reach 15cm or more in length. The needles are held in bundles of five along the branches. Monoecious. Seed cones are long and cylindrical in shape and held in clusters. The cones are resinous, yellowish-green in colour when they emerge and turn brown with age.

Pinus x schwerinii is a hybrid of P. strobus and P. wallichiana and was discovered growing at the home of Dr Graf von Schwerin near Berlin.
