Description: Medium to large-sized Deciduous Shrub with an upright, spreading habit. Attractive rounded to oval leaves emerge deep maroon-red in spring and deepen to rich, dark purple. Small, inconspicuous flowers are pale beige and produced in airy panicles from early to midsummer. Pink, fluffy hairs produced within the inflorescence provide the distinctive smoke-like appearance from midsummer onwards. The foliage turns a brilliant shade of scarlet-red in autumn.

Small beige, star-shaped flowers are produced in loose panicles from June into July. Pink fluffy hairs produced beneath the flowers develop and give an attractive smoke-like appearance to the inflorescence from July into August.
