Description: Small, Deciduous tree with a broad, upright habit. Handsome, deep reddish-purple leaves are palmately lobed and maintain their rich colour through the summer. (Many cultivars eventually fade to bronze-green.) Small red flowers in Corymbs are produced from mid to late spring and are followed by samaras with red wings. Leaves turn a brilliant shade of red in the autumn.

It is unclear whether A. palmatum 'Bloodgood' was originally raised at Bloodgood Nursery in Long Island, New York or if it had been raised at Ebbinge and Groose Nursery in Holland and then sent to the USA where it was named.

Small, reddish-purple flowers in pendent corymbs are produced from April to May and are followed by samaras with deep red wings.
