Description: A medium to large-sized, Evergreen bamboo with an upright habit. Tall, upright canes emerge bright green in spring and fade to yellow as they develop. The canes produce branches with bright yellowish-green leaves that are lanceolate in shape and can reach to 15cm or more in length. Phyllostachys aurea is a clump-forming bamboo in this climate.

Monocarpic, however, flowers are rarely produced.

Foliage:

Bright, yellowish-green leaves are lanceolate in shape and are glaucous on the undersides. Each leaf is pointed at the tip and can reach more than 15cm in length. The foliage is produced on thin branches held on tall, upright canes that emerge bright green in the spring and develop a golden yellow hue with age.
