Description: A tuberous Perennial with upright stems and a candelabra-like shape. Each tuber produces two glossy, trifoliate leaves with ovate to Elliptic leaflets that are pointed, almost thread-like, at the tips. The spathe and spadix inflorescence is produced below the leaves from late spring into early summer. The hooded spathe is deep purple or green with white stripes, and curls over the creamy white spadix.

The green form is grown in the Woodland Walk at Malverleys.

Flower:

The hooded spathe is deep purple - nearly black, or green. Both forms are striped white. The spadix is creamy white. The flowers are produced from May into June.

Foliage:

Glossy mid-green, trifoliate leaves have Elliptic to ovate leaflets. The tip of each leaflet is tapered to a fine, thread-like point. Each tuber produces two leaves which are held at the base of the plant.
