Description: A large Shrub or small Deciduous tree with an upright, bushy habit. Dark green oval to Elliptic leaves are tapered at the tips and have bristled margins. Green male and female flowers are produced on the same plant, but separately in late spring. Male flowers are held in catkins, the female flowers are produced in pendulous Racemes that lengthen as the fruit develops.

Flower:

Monoecious. Male and female flowers are produced on the same plant, but separately in May. Male catkins hold small, green flowers. The female flowers are produced in pendulous racemes that lengthen as the fruit develops. The fruit matures to brown and contains black seed.
