Description: Upright annual with smooth, blue-grey foliage. Brilliant scarlet-red flowers have two cupped inner petals and two overlapping outer petals, forming a cup-in-cup shape. Flowers are produced in summer and are followed by smooth, round seed Capsules.

Flower:

Deep scarlet cup and saucer-shaped flowers are produced on solitary stems. The two inner petals have black blotches at the base and the two outer petals spread and overlap to form the outer 'cup'. Flowers are approximately 10cm in diameter and are followed by round, grey-green seed heads.
