Description: Deciduous, suckering, medium-sized Shrub with an upright habit. Mid-green, fern-like leaves with finely cut leaflets can reach up to 60cm in length and are renowned for their brilliant orange-red autumn colour. Young stems are covered in fine, velvety red hair. Deep red fruit in pyramidal clusters are produced from spring through autumn. Rhus typhina as a species is Dioecious, and as R. t. 'Dissecta' is a female cultivar, no male flowers will be produced on this plant.

Female cultivar. Inconspicuous female flowers are produced in May and are followed by showy pyramid shaped panicles of deep red fruit from summer into autumn.
