Description: A medium-sized Deciduous Shrub with a bushy, but upright habit. Deepest purple, nearly black, leaves are pinnate with deeply cut leaflets giving the foliage a lace-like appearance. Scented, pale rosy-pink flowers in flattened panicles are produced in early to midsummer and are followed by round, glossy black berries. Raised at Horticulture Research International Station in East Malling, Kent.

Award of Garden Merit (AGM).

The correct botanical name for this plant is S. nigra f. porphyrophylla 'Eva'- Black Lace is a trademark name.
