Description: A herbaceous Perennial with a clump-forming habit and tall, upright stems. Long, narrow mid to dark green leaves are spiny and have a pinnatisect outline. Small, tubular flowers are bright pink and white, and together form a thistle-like flowerhead (Capitulum). The flowerheads are held atop tall, vertical stems in midsummer. The flowers are a magnet for bees and butterflies and the seeds that follow are attractive to birds.
